WORM SCREWS

Worm screws are mechanical components designed for motion transmission between perpendicular axis shafts, where the rotation of the screw produces movement of the coupled gear, called a worm wheel or worm gear. This transmission system is appreciated for its ability to achieve very high reduction ratios in a single stage while maintaining a compact structure.

One of the main characteristics of worm screws is their ability to operate with a high degree of quietness, thanks to the continuous contact between the screw threads and the wheel teeth. Additionally, this type of transmission can offer a self-locking effect, preventing reverse motion when at rest, useful in many industrial applications.
